Welcome to the Riverside Church. We are glad you are here!
We serve the One True God who is eternally existent in three persons: the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. These Three are One.
Genesis 1:1- 27, Genesis 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 1:2
Jesus Christ is the Son of God; He is fully God and fully Man. He became the perfect sacrifice for the sin of all people on the cruel cross at Calvary. Jesus arose from the dead to confirm He is the Son of God and to demonstrate God’s power over sin and death. Jesus ascended to Heaven and will return again for His Bride, the Church.
Matthew 1:22, Matthew 1:23, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-5, John 14:10-30, Romans 1:3-4, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Timothy 6:14-15, Titus 2:13
The Holy Spirit is God present with us and lives in us who believe in Jesus Christ. He is the Giver of life to those born again through faith in Jesus Christ. He is our Guide, our Helper, our Power Source, our Counselor, and our Teacher. He empowers us to serve God and to advance His Kingdom by the love and grace of God. The Holy Spirit is the Giver of spiritual gifts that edify the Church and empower us to live victoriously in the name of Jesus. As Christians, we live in submission to the Holy Spirit and thereby enjoy the promised blessings of our covenant with God.
Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 3:17, John 16:7-13, John 14:16-17, Galatians 5:25, 1 Corinthians 2:12, 1 Corinthians 3:16
The Bible is the revealed Word of God to mankind. The Bible is inspired by God and written by men under supernatural inspiration by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is without error and It is our manual for life and godliness. The Word of God is Truth.
Mankind was created by God in His own image and after His likeness; we were created to rule the earth on His behalf. Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, because of that all of mankind fell from intimacy and communion with God. Every person is born into sin and is separated from God and each of us is therefore in need of a Savior. Jesus is the Savior.
Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-6, Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1-2
Salvation is God’s gift to fallen man. Salvation is defined as the sum-total of all the covenant blessings God has set in place for His children. We enter into salvation through the new birth. Our salvation is by the grace of God and it happens because of our faith in Jesus Christ. We are forgiven of all sin and saved because of the love of God for us, it is not by anything we can do or achieve. The requirement for salvation is that we believe Jesus is the Son of God and we make Him Lord and Savior of our life. Eternal life begins the instant we are born again.
Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6, John 1:2, Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1, Romans 10:9-10
Human beings are eternal creatures. We will exist forever, either in heaven or in eternal torment. Our eternal destiny is ours to choose. The choice is to make Jesus Christ our Lord and enjoy eternity with God, or it is to reject the free gift of salvation offered by God and spend eternity in the flames of judgment in the lake of fire. Heaven and hell are real.
John 3:16, John 14:17, Romans 6:23, Romans 8:17-18, Revelation 20:15, 1 Corinthians 2:7-9
Mankind can only relate to God through a covenant relationship. God and man cut covenant through Abraham and we are brought into His covenant through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. We who are of faith are children of Abraham and we are blessed with believing Abraham. We are one with God and all of the promises made by God to His children are ours because of our covenant with Him.
Genesis 15:1-18, Galatians 3, II Corinthians 1:20, II Peter 1:1-4
The Church is called the Body of Christ. It is God’s representation on the earth in this age. The church is not an organization or non-profit entity but rather a covenant family of God. The church is comprised of all who are born again by the Spirit of God regardless of denominational affiliation. We accept everyone in the love of Jesus.
Matthew 16:18-19, Galatians 6:10, Ephesians 1:22, Ephesians 2, Ephesians 3:10
Water baptism and the Lord’s Table are the two fundamental ordinances of the Christian faith. Baptism is symbolic of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and thereby we publicly declare His Lordship of our new life in Christ. The Lord’s Table is a powerful covenant act of intimacy with God through the symbols by which we remember the death of Jesus: the bread represents His broken body and the wine is a symbol of His shed blood that cleanses us from sin. All born again believers are welcome at the Table of the Lord at Riverside.
The central message taught by Jesus was the Kingdom of God. His Kingdom is not of this world and is therefore governed by spiritual laws and principles; we endeavor to learn and apply these to our lives in order to please the Lord and experience success in our life in Christ Jesus. Led by the Holy Spirit each believer discovers our spiritual gifts and develops in them for His glory. Riverside is a place of spiritual development.
Some biblical passages fall under the category of “non-essential” and these passages we accept as subject to personal interpretation by individual believers. These peripheral doctrines are differentiated from the core doctrines of our Christian faith which are non-negotiable and have been historically accepted by the Church.
Romans 14:1-4, Romans 14:12, Romans 14:22, 1 Corinthians 13:2
God, I come to You as a sinner in need of a Savior. I ask You to forgive me of sin. I renounce Satan and sin. I believe Jesus is Your Son and I receive Him right now as my Lord and as My Savior. I know Jesus died for me and that He rose from the dead. I receive Your free gift of salvation. I am born again! Amen.
John 3:1-8, Romans 4:19-25, Romans 10:8-10, Galatians 3:22, Ephesians 2:1-10, Romans 10:8-10
